How to Make A Slushy with Kool Aid

by Steven Jonh | September 5, 2021

Slushie with Kool-AidWhen you think of summer, what are some of the things that come to mind? For most of us, it is swimming, camping, family vacations, time at the pool, and other “big” things that can be done mostly during the three months of summer. However, most of us also admit that not every summer day can be an adventure, which is why most kids get a little antsy during it. What if we said you could change this by adding a little Kool-Aid to your days? All you have to do is learn how to make an awesome slushie with Kool-Aid!

Kool-Aid Meets Summer Fun Requirements

Yes, you read it right! You can easily turn all Kool-Aid flavors into summer fun for your family.

Most kids love to sip on a glass of Kool-Aid. There are many fun flavors to try. You can have simple flavors like strawberry, grape, cherry, and watermelon. Then you may also get the fun flavor combinations like Berry Cherry, Strawberry Kiwi, and Sharkleberry Fin. Each option is an adventure for your child’s tastebuds.

You can use it to your advantage and make a cool summertime treat that will further delight your kids this summer. All you need is a few simple things that you already have around the home and your family’s favorite Kool-Aid flavor packets.

Slushies Meets Kool-Aid: How to Make Slushies

Remember when you were a child and going to the store with your parents meant you might get a slushie from your local convenience store? It didn’t cost much money, but it could put a smile on your face and add a chill to the hottest of days.

You can give your family the same type of treats, and you don’t even have to get into your vehicle. All you need is a blender or a slushie-making machine and a few simple ingredients. Nostalgia makes a great machine for slushies that your entire family will be able to use. If you want something that can make larger amounts of slushie at a time, then you can choose something closer to a commercial-style machine. If you do not have a slushie machine, your home’s blender should work well enough, especially if it has a little power backing it up to bust through ice cubes.

Beyond the machine, you will need:

  • 2-Cups Cold Water
  • 1-Packet of Kool-Aid
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • And 4-Cups of Ice (If using your blender)

To Mix Your Slushie with Kool-Aid:

Add all ingredients to your blender. Water, Kool-Aid, Sugar, and Ice in that order. If using a slushie machine, you will need to mix all ingredients in a separate container and add it to your machine.

Blend until smooth on a higher speed or mix until it becomes the desired slushie consistency.

Pour the mixture into your favorite glass, add a straw or a spoon, and let your family savor all the fun that follows.

Explore Various Flavor Options

Now that you know how easy it is to make awesome slushies with a simple Kool-Aid packet, and how much your family will love it, why not explore all the other variations? You can sample different flavors, combine your own fun flavors, and add a little vanilla ice cream to the mixture for some extra creamy goodness.

You can, and should, also play around with the sugar that you add to your mixture. Kool-Aid is by nature a little tart if you don’t have enough sugar for your tastebuds. Therefore, some families prefer more or less sugar. Adding ice cream can also increase the sweetness which means you will want to lessen the sugar in some cases.

You also have the option to mix up your Kool-Aid as you normally would, chill it, and skip adding the cold water. Instead, just use the Kool-Aid you already have mixed up the right way.

In short, there are no real rules to making Kool-Aid slushies. You simply experiment to come up with the flavors that appeal to you the most.

Other Fun Slushie Options

Kool-Aid slushies will add a lot of fun to your summer, but it isn’t the only option. You can use juice concentrates, such as Limeade and French Vanilla ice cream, frosted mango lemonade, frosted coffee, and even some tasty adult beverage slushies.

You can substitute freshly frozen fruits. We like mixing fresh cubed watermelon and ice or mixing it up with a little lime, lemon, or mint. Mango is also another fresh frozen fruit that can be used with a lot of delightful twists.

Which Will You Try?

Learning how to make awesome slushies with Kool-Aid is easy enough that everyone will enjoy expanding on their favorites. From fruit additions to numerous Kool-Aid flavor options, you have plenty of options for fun flavors to try. Which one do you think you will enjoy the most? We hope that no matter which flavors you try, you and your family enjoy them as much as we do.
